Post Merger Integration (PMI) is decisive for M&A success

The term "Post Merger Integration" (short: PMI) describes the integration phase after the legal merger of companies in the context of M&A projects, in which the processes, procedures and structures of the companies involved are harmonized and their business areas are restructured or merged will.

 

The integration in finance and accounting (Q&A) focuses on ensuring the financial sustainability of the new organization and is of central importance for the success of the transaction.

The finance and accounting team needs clear instructions and templates for the harmonization of structures and valid financial reporting for the closing.

 

The better the integration, the fewer surprises there are due to poor reporting or missing data. Accordingly, it is important to plan, design and manage the change project in a professional manner.

Digital invoicing processes have a very high ROI potential.  

The automation of processes in accounting is gaining momentum. There are many ways to make processes faster, more secure and more cost-effective, especially through the use of import routines, workflows and the automated recognition and posting of documents. Artificial intelligence and robotic process automation (RPA) increase the possibility of fully automated processing of incoming invoices without human support (dark bookings).

 

The purchase-to-pay process includes all activities related to the purchase of goods or services, in particular:   order,   goods receipt, incoming invoice, payment. With a large number of paper documents and a complex internal approval process, significant advantages in automation can be achieved quickly.

One of the most common mistakes is to simply digitize existing processes, because bad processes remain digitally bad processes. Rather, the first question should always be asked: "How can the existing processes be optimally designed with todays instruments? Business process reengineering may serve as a keyword for this.

​

The lack of skilled workers requires routine tasks and manual activities to be optimized. At the same time, there is a change in skills. Employees have to think and judge in a holistic, complex and networked manner.

Many companies are ready, technologies are also ready. However, there is often a lack of resources or expertise (professional and technical, database and methodological skills) to realize the desired advantages of automation in a timely manner. I would be happy to bring my know-how to you.
